travel & accommodations

We can’t wait for you to get here!

In planning your trip to Alaska it’s best to get flights as soon as possible for lower prices and easier timing. Most flights route through Seattle, and many of these get into Anchorage late in the evening or very early in the morning. Generally speaking, we are recommending Girdwood lodging for folks who are going to join for just the weekend. But if your flight gets in late it’s probably best to spend a night in Anchorage and drive down the Turnagain Arm to Girdwood in daylight.

We are blocking out rooms at the Hotel Alyeska, as most of the wedding events will be in or near Girdwood. Lodging in Anchorage is also a viable option, and could make more sense for folks who are coming up for a longer visit with some additional adventuring. Aside from the Hotel, there are many VRBO accommodations in both Girdwood and Anchorage, and we’d absolutely recommend this option for larger groups or families.

Girdwood is a small resort town at the south end of the municipality of Anchorage with less that 2000 full-time residents. We are encouraging out-of-town guests to stay in Girdwood, as the wedding activities will all be in and around the Girdwood area. We’ve blocked out rooms at the Hotel Alyeska, which is tucked up against the Chugach Mountains and National Forest with easy access to restaurants and recreation in town.

Hotel Alyeska – Block rooms are reserved under the Spooner Reilly wedding.

Host to half the population of the state, Anchorage is the closest you can get to the feel of urban centers in the lower 48.
